Home and Away

Don’t worry folks, this isn’t a post about everyone’s favourite Aussie television show. Seeing as I’ve had 2 weeks to fill until the next gameweek, I thought it might be worth looking into players’ differing fortunes based on whether they are playing at home or away. Admittedly, I haven’t looked through every player available, I’ve tried to limit this to the higher scoring players as well as some of the more popular players, so it’s likely that I’ve probably missed some.

Home:

Chris Brunt – 84.93% home points

He may as well be called Chris Bruntwich Albion! Brunt has scored all 3 of his goals at The Hawthorns this season and all 3 assists have also come at home. On top of that, he’s racked up 100% of his 3 clean sheets and all 10 of his bonus points at home. 62 of his overall 73 points have come at home.

Lee Grant – 65.85% home points

The Britannia Stadium has always been a tough place for teams to go to, now that Lee Grant is in goal it’s just got that much tougher. 5 out of his 7 clean sheets have at home as well as 8 of his 13 save points. 54 of his overall 82 points have come at home.

Roberto Firmino – 64.75% home points

The Brazilian has scored 6 of his 8 goals at Anfield this season and 4 of his 6 assists have also come at home. 79 out of his overall 122 points have come at home.

Robert Snodgrass – 64.49% home points*

I put an asterisk on Snodgrass because most of his games (and therefore points) are based around his time at Hull this season. 5 of his 7 goals have came at The KCOM Stadium – his now former home, he also got 3 of his 4 assists there too. The 1 away assist is the only attacking return he’s had for West Ham so far. 69 of his overall 107 points have come at home.

Fernando Llorente – 63.10% home points

I know he’s not the most popular striker but with no blank Gameweeks coming up, he may be worth considering. 6 of the Spaniard’s 8 goals have come at home this season. 53 of his 84 points overall have come at home.

Sadio Mane – 62.88% home points

Mane, Mane, Mane, Ma-ne. Mane! The man(e) from Senegal has scored 7 of his 11 goals at Anfield this season. 5 of his 6 assists have also come at home. 83 points out of 132 points have been at home.

Eden Hazard – 62.59% home points

Although it might not feel like it if you’ve owned him, Hazard is actually the second highest points scorer in the game. 8 out of his 10 goals have come at Stamford Bridge this season. 92 of his 147 points have come at home.

Salomon Rondon – 61.54% home points

Rondon isn’t in the greatest of form currently but 5 of his 7 goals have been at home this season as well as all 3 of his assists. 56 of his 91 points have come at home.

Tom Heaton – 60.38% home points

Given Burnley’s incredible home record this season, I expected Heaton to have a much higher home points percentage. 5 out of his 6 clean sheets have come at home and 11 of his 18 bonus points have come with them. Only 9 of his 25 save points accrued this season have come at Turf Moor though. 64 out of his 106 points have come at home

Hugo Lloris – 59.77% home points

7 of Lloris’ 9 clean sheets have come at home this season and although he’s only picked up 2 bonus points all season, both of them have also come at White Hart Lane. 52 out of his 87 points have come at home.

Away:

Ryan Bertrand – 65.85% away points.

All 4 of Bertrand’s assists have been in away games along with his only goal. 54 of his 82 points have come away from home.

Christian Benteke – 65.85% away points.

Benteke was one of the guys who I first thought of when writing this piece. The Belgian has scored 7 of his 9 goals in away games and his only assist also came away from Selhurst Park. 54 of his 82 points have come away from home.

Alexis Sanchez – 55.19% away points.

I expected Sanchez’s percentage to be much higher given that 11 of his 17 goals have come away from home. Overall, this means that 101 out of his 183 points have come away from The Emirates Stadium.

Interesting Note:

Ben Foster

Similar to Tom Heaton, I thought that Foster would have a much higher home score percentage due to him keeping 4 of his 5 clean sheets at home. But only 10 of his 20 save points at home. Only 44 out of his 83 points have come home which puts his home points percentage at 53.01%. I thought it was interesting anyway…
